About Chris

Meet Delegate Chris Anders

West Virginia House of Delegates – District 97
Constitutional Conservative | Defender of Liberty | Voice for the People

Chris Anders serves in the West Virginia House of Delegates with a clear and unwavering mission: to defend liberty, restrain government, and protect the God-given rights of West Virginians. Representing the 97th District, Chris brings more than two decades of experience in grassroots politics and the private sector to Charleston—not to blend in, but to stand up and fight back.

Chris lives near Martinsburg with his wife Laura, where they raise animals and live quietly on a small farm—far from the halls of power, and exactly where he belongs: among the people he serves.

A Philosophy Rooted in Principle

Chris Anders is a constitutional conservative whose worldview is shaped by natural rights, Biblical values, and Founding-era principles. He believes:

  • Government’s only legitimate role is to protect life, liberty, and property.

  • Our rights come from God—not government, and must never be surrendered for convenience or compliance.

  • The Tenth Amendment must be enforced—the states are sovereign, and the federal government must be shoved back into its constitutional box.

  • Bureaucrats—whether in Washington or Charleston—have no right to rule over free people.

Chris draws inspiration from the boldness and wisdom of Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, Frederic Bastiat, and Ron Paul—men who understood that liberty must be defended with action, not just words.

A Record of Action

Since his first day in office, Chris has established himself as one of the most reliable and fearless defenders of liberty in the West Virginia Legislature. He has:

  • Teamed up with like-minded true conservatives to hold the line against bloated budgets, tax hikes, and unconstitutional overreach.

  • Never voted for a budget that grows the size, scope, or spending of government.

  • Stopped the proposed Statewide Sales Tax Increase by helping rally opposition to the  Tax Increase Scheme.

  • Proven himself a consistent, principled “NO” vote against corruption, compromise, and coercion.

Legislative Leadership & Sponsored Bills

Chris doesn’t just talk—he leads. Below are key bills he has sponsored or co-sponsored to restore constitutional government:

HB 2469 – Abolish the “Rain Tax”

Blocks cities and counties from charging stormwater fees that tax residents for simply owning property.
“You shouldn’t be taxed for rain falling on your land.”

HB 5313 – The Fourth Amendment Protection Act

Bans state and local agencies from aiding warrantless federal surveillance programs.
“If they want to spy on West Virginians, they’d better bring a warrant—or pack their bags.”

HB 5105 – Medical Freedom & Big Pharma Accountability

Strips pharmaceutical companies of immunity and lets citizens sue for vaccine injuries—restoring accountability.

Universal Ban on Vaccine Mandates (Legislative push across multiple bills)

Chris supports and has backed legislation to **ban all vaccine mandates—**not just COVID—for both children and adults.
“Your body, your medical decisions. Period.”

HB 4386 – Repeal Certificate of Need (CON)

Breaks up government-protected monopolies in healthcare, allowing competition and expanding access.

HB 4299 – Ban Abortion Pill Trafficking

Criminalizes the illegal distribution of chemical abortion drugs in West Virginia.

HB 4298 – Eminent Domain Reform

Protects property owners from seizure by out-of-state corporations or government cronies.

HB 4313 – Constitutional Carry in the Capitol

Ensures law-abiding citizens can carry firearms with a concealed carry permit inside the West Virginia Capitol—restoring the right to self-defense where it matters most.

HB 4808 – Ban COVID Vaccine Mandates in Schools

Prohibits COVID shots from being mandated in West Virginia’s K-12 public education system.

State-Level Criminalization of Illegal Immigration

Chris supports making illegal immigration a state-level crime, empowering local law enforcement to act where the federal government fails.

Where He Stands

Chris Anders never dodges the hard issues. He meets them head-on—with courage and clarity.

  • Second Amendment: Proven defender. No compromise. No red flag laws. No bans. No carve-outs. Supports full constitutional carry—including in public buildings.

  • Life: Life begins at conception. Supports a total ban on abortion and full defunding of Planned Parenthood.

  • Medical Freedom: No vaccine mandates. No corporate immunity. No coercion.

  • Parental Rights: Parents, not politicians, decide how to raise their children. Chris opposes gender ideology, school secrecy, and government intervention.

  • Property Rights: No rain tax. No eminent domain abuse. No forced regional taxation.

  • Tenth Amendment: West Virginia is not a federal outpost. Chris fights to assert state sovereignty and reject unconstitutional federal dictates.

  • Illegal Immigration: Finish the wall. Deport criminal illegals. No benefits. No amnesty. No birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens. Support state enforcement of immigration law.

  • Religious Liberty: Worship, speak, and live according to your faith—without government interference.

  • Taxpayer Protection: Cut taxes. Kill cronyism. Chris helped stop the statewide sales tax hike and fights against backdoor tax schemes.

  • Government Accountability: End taxpayer-funded lobbying. Fire the bureaucrats who betray your freedoms with your own money.

Grounded in Faith

Chris Anders serves with a deep, unshakable Christian worldview. He believes:

  • Our rights are endowed by our Creator—not by men, judges, or politicians.

  • Government should be a servant, not a master.

  • Justice and liberty can only endure in a nation built on moral law and eternal truth.

Chris and his wife Laura live near Martinsburg on a small farm. They believe in hard work, honest living, and leaving future generations with more freedom than they inherited.

“I Work for You—Not the System.”

Chris Anders doesn’t serve lobbyists, leadership, or political consultants.
